2009 Sonoma Coast Riesling
SONOMA COAST

Ten-year Library release of our 2009 Sonoma Coast Dry Riesling. This Riesling is currently being used by Michelin 3 star restaurants like Single Thread in Healdsburg and at Alinea in Chicago on their pairing menu. We held back 20 cases to release exclusively to you guys on its 10 year anniversary. It's in sublime condition - still bright, crisp and dry, with amazing aromas and flavors of minerals, wild flowers, jasmine and white fruits of apples and pear. We urge you to try this wine, you have to taste it to believe it!

While spending time in France, Guy fell in love with the dry, crisp style of Riesling from the Alsace region. He always wanted to make Riesling but wanted to ensure that the fruit was coming from an ideal climate for the varietal. The depth of minerality in this wine achieves just that. The texture is crisp yet still having a richness that makes it mouthcoating- a more floral wine with lots of interesting layers that keep unfolding as the wine warms up in your glass. This Riesling is not one for the wine novice. In fact, it’s the favorite of our favorite wine geeks!

In the Vineyard:
The Sonoma Coast vineyard that he found was originally planted to Pinot Noir that the grower could not get to ripen because it was too close to the Coast… the perfect scenario for Riesling! With some arm twisting, Guy convinced the grower to graft it over to Riesling. Floral and laced with hints of peach and spice from its long time on the vine and alluvial soils so near the ocean.

In the Winery:
This Riesling has zero residual sugar and is aged in stainless steel for 6 months. By fermenting the wine completely dry and not overwhelming the fruit with oak, we ensure that all of the varietal characteristics are showcased to their full potential.
