Overview
Our Russian River Pinot Noir comes from our own Estate
vineyard planted 15 years ago and this 2008 vintage is the
10th time we have made wine from those grapes. This has
taken the complexity of the wine to a fantastic place – the
layers of flavor reflect everything special about the
Russian River Valley – the aromas have both red and dark
fruit and the spice notes range from sweet to savory.
Our vineyard is on a southeast hillside that takes in the
soft morning sun but dodges the direct harsh afternoon sun -
this exposure reflects itself by leaving bright acidity and
a more elegant perfume in the wine. The soils are full of
volcanic ash that leaves minerality on the palate and the
flavors of earth, stone and a deep boysenberry core which
are a constant in this wine year after year.
Tasting Notes
Dark garnet color in the glass. Alluring aromas of dark
berry/red cherry and brown spice that carry through to the
palate. The wine has refreshing acidity, velvety tannins and
a finish steeped with that boysenberry fruit and layers of
dark spices. A perfectly harmonious wine that is
quintessential Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
Wine
Enthusiast – With rich, oaky flavors of raspberries,
cherries, cola and spices, this silky young Pinot is for
drinking now. It’s a clean, vibrant wine brightened with a
squirt of acidity.
Beverage Testing Institute - “Highly Recommended” Deep
garnet violet color. Aromas of strawberry gelato, mocha
fudge, olive, and tobacco with a supple dry-yet-fruity
medium-to-full body and a tangy chocolate covered graham
cracker, rhubarb, cedar, and spice finish. Very nice. |
